The Wharf DC is a historic neighborhood located on the Southwest Waterfront Washington, DC. The Southwest Waterfront is a residential neighborhood in, as the name suggest, southwest Washington, DC.

Some Background

The Wharf is home to the Maine Avenue Fish Market. This Fish market is one of the oldest open-air fish markets in all of America.

The Wharf DC is home to much development, starting in the late 2000’s and really continuing to this day, the Wharf and Southwest Waterfront continue to see development in the area through the opening of apartments, retail space, office buildings and much more.

The Wharf Neighborhood

Southwest and The Wharf features a beautiful waterfront neighborhood that continues to develop and add great new entertainment options. Among many other things, the Wharf is home to The Anthem, a concert hall that hosts many prominent artists for all over that is has become one of the primary attractions to the area.

Location

Southwest Waterfront and the Wharf are located in Southwest, Washington DC. Southwest Waterfront, usually just referred to as “Southwest” by those who live in the area, is bordered by the Anacostia River to its South and the Washington Channel to its west.

 

Transportation

 

The Wharf offers a neighborhood shuttle that is great for getting around, Water Taxis that pull up to the Transit Pier, and the Waterfront Metro station that service the green line. There is no shortage of ways to get around this neighborhood.

 

You Won’t Want to Miss

  • The Anthem for a concert ranging from Hip-Hop to Rock.

  • The Wharf Boathouse for some boating fun on the DC waters.

  • Transit Pier to take a water taxi or just enjoy some of the entertainment that goes on around the Pier.
