Some History

Founded by Arthur Randle in 1890, Congress Heights’ development really kicked off in the 20th century. For many years, Congress Heights was home to working class people, many of those who worked at the nearby Navy Yard. Congress Heights was even home to the last working farm in Washington, DC, a farm that was eventually forced to close to make way for a new road being built over the land.

Congress Heights Neighborhood

Congress Heights DC has undergone some development in the 21^st century. Many development projects have been funded in this area, adding new residential and entertainment options among other things. One of more recent developments and a popular entertainment option is the new Entertainment and Sports Arena right within Congress Heights. This arena is home to Washington Mystics of the WNBA and the Capital City Go-Go of the NBA G League but regularly hosts some of the most popular music artists.

Congress Heights is a neighborhood in Southeast Washington, DC, east of the Potomac River. For reference, Congress Heights sits roughly 8 miles southeast of the White House

Transportation

The area contains a metro station right within the neighborhood, it is served by the Congress Heights station that provides service for the Green Line of the Washington Metro.
