Adams Morgan DC

Adams Morgan is a neighborhood in Northwest Washington, DC that sits just under two miles north of the White House. Within Adams Morgan can be found Reed-Cooke, a small neighborhood of roughly only 10 blocks that most people just associate as a part of Adams Morgan.

Adams Morgan features a spirted nightlife, great restaurants, shopping, and beautiful architecture in an area that is filled with cultural diversity and a rich history.

Some History

Adams Morgan has a deep racial history. Once the home of two elementary schools that kept children segregated until the mid-1950’s, Adams Morgan is named after the two local schools in the town that went by the names of Thomas P. Morgan Elementary and John Quincy Adams Elementary.

Adams Morgan Neighborhood

Adams Morgan DC is an affordable and laid-back neighborhood with an exciting nightlife, diverse food options and interesting shops. The neighborhood has a rich cultural history and to this day is a great place to experience ethnic shops and foods from around the world.  18th street is the primary attraction for Adams Morgan and is where many of the shops and restaurants reside.

Location

Adams Morgan is a small neighborhood in Northwest Washington, DC that is bordered by Dupont Circle to its south and Columbia Heights to its north.

 

Transportation

 

The area doesn’t currently have a metro station in the neighborhood, although there is a station named Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan, the station is actually in Woodley Park, but it is within walking distance of Adams Morgan. Adams Morgan also has a route on the DC Circulator that center of the neighborhood with two local metro stations.
